Abstract
This study aims to identify the tourism potential of batik and identify the role of the triple helix in the development of tourist villages in Banyuwangi Regency. This research was conducted comprehensively by taking a retrospective approach to evaluate the strengths and challenges of Banyuwangi batik in the batik market and prospectively to evaluate the challenges and opportunities when developing a model of Banyuwangi batik tourism village based on product innovation. The results of this study indicate that there are 25 batik craftsmen in Banyuwangi Regency. The results of the study can be concluded that the role of academics in this study as agents of change who help batik craftsmen through the transfer of knowledge in developing batik products, the role of business/batik craftsmen as actors who become objects in developing tourist villages through creativity in making batik product innovations, and the role of government as providing support to batik business actors in the form of regulations, policies and infrastructure.
